November 2002

Portland, OR - Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, a local high-tech Engineering firm, today announced an important revision to its website.

Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, the company's Principal Engineer and Chief Technical Officer, explained that his company has added listings of the most common Industry Classification Codes to its website.

These listings will enable visitors to quickly categorize his company's offerings according to the NAICS, NIGP, and SIC classification systems. Mr. Barrett noted that codes for other systems will be added to the site as they become available.

Portland, OR - Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, a local high-tech Engineering firm, today announced its continuing participation in the Microchip Technology Consultant Program.

Participation in the Microchip Consultant Program requires extensive design experience, technical proficiency, and communication skills. Microchip Consultants must conduct their businesses in a thorough and professional manner.

Barrett & Assoc. Engineering's Principal Engineer, Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, has just returned from the sixth annual Microchip Masters' Conference, in Phoenix, Arizona. At the conference, Mr. Barrett received technical training which renewed his certification as a Microchip Consultant, and Microchip confirmed his company's continuing participation in the Microchip Consultant Program:

June 2002

Portland, OR - Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, a local high-tech Engineering firm, today announced that its Principal Engineer, Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, P.E., has been awarded the Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) credential.

The CSDP credential is conferred by the IEEE Computer Society, which is chartered by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

The CSDP logo, shown here, may be displayed only by those holding valid CSDP certification.



Candidates for the CSDP credential must have extensive experience in the field of software development, and must successfully complete a rigorous examination demonstrating their mastery of the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK). Holders of the CSDP are subject to Ethical Standards and perpetual Continuing Education requirements.

Unlike the more usual "certifications" available from software vendors and commercial trade groups, the CSDP is considered to be a "primary" credential. According to the IEEE Computer Society, the CSDP is the first professional software certification offered by an established, international, Standards-setting organization.

The CSDP is the newest component of the IEEE Computer Society's larger effort to establish world-wide Software Engineering Standards, and to provide continuing education to the Software Engineering community.

Portland, OR - Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, PE, founder and Principal Engineer of Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, a local high-tech Engineering firm, has completed the 802.11 Wireless LAN Technology course of training provided by the Oregon Section of the IEEE. The IEEE is a national Standards-setting body with international membership.

Mr. Barrett noted that this technical training is the latest example of his company's ongoing commitment to technical excellence.


March 2002

Camas, WA - Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas (SMA) will announce
its new Blue Streak(TM) line of microcontrollers and ARM-based Systems-On-Chips (SOCs)
at the Embedded Systems Conference to be held March 12-16, in San Francisco.

The newest Blue Streak product is the Sharp LH79520 SOC. At the Embedded Systems Conference, SMA will introduce this new 32-bit, ARM-based SOC, with matching Evaluation Board (EVB).

Portland, OR - Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, notes that its Principal Engineer, Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, P.E., participated on the SMA Systems Software Engineering (SSE) team associated with the development of the Sharp LH79520 SOC and Evaluation Board (EVB).

Mr. Barrett's responsibilities included the development of content, text, and graphics for the LH79520 Microcontroller User's Guide and the LH79520 Evaluation Kit (EVK) User's Guide.

Portland, OR - Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, a local high-tech Engineering firm, today announced that its founder and Principal Engineer, Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, P.E., has been reelected to the office of Chairman of the Oregon IEEE Consultants' Network (ORCNET) for FY2002.

The ORCNET is affiliated with the  IEEE-USA , a national organization representing the interests of electrical and electronic engineers across the USA.
