A Word About "Products" vs "Services" *
Engineering is a "service" business; our product is a service.  Our Attorneys tell us that we do "works for hire".
This can be confusing to folks who manufacture or sell "hard" products, (including shrink-wrapped software, strangely enough), but our CPA says it's actually quite common.
Many of our projects involve "prototypes", which some would consider to be "products". We believe that clarification is required.
When we sell our Engineering Services, our actual product is defined by the deliverables listed in the contract with our Client. In most cases, our products include the underlying design.
These are important concepts because they concern Intellectual Property, which we create for our Clients.
